Computers or Mobile Devices?

With a Teacher role in DD Courses:

It is recommended you use a desktop or laptop computer for the full course design option. You will have more tools and see more options than your students.  How your course looks depends on how it was created and its version.

Your students will likely be using cell phones or other mobile devices.  In this case, their best option is to view the site from the Mobile App.

The site looks slightly different on the mobile app.  This will be covered in section 1.4 Moodle Mobile App.

The DD Home Page

When you first go to the DD Courses site (https://courses.darakhtdanesh.org/), you will find a page with all the courses available on the site.  On the top of your screen will be a menu with different options for this site.  You can get back to the home page at any time by clicking either “Home”, or the orange Darakht-e Danesh Courses logo in the top corner of the menu.

Logging in: you must always log in to begin a session.  The button is in the top corner with a logo of a person beside it .  To log in, use the same email and password you did when you enrolled, including upper and lowercase letters, you can also use your Google or Facebook account, but you need to use the same log in every time.

Getting to Your Course - The Navigation Bar

Once you are logged in, across the top of the DD Courses page, different options will bring you to your course - if your course has already been created by a Manager or Course Creator role.

Dashboard shows recently accessed courses and can be customized to show additional details such as a timeline, calendar, and other “blocks”.

My courses lists all of your courses and can be customized to show In progress, Future, or Past courses.

Recent: After using DD Courses for awhile, this drop-down menu will also list your recently accessed courses.

Your profile: In the top corner of the menu is a circle with either a symbol of a person or your picture or logo from gmail or facebook.  Beside this symbol is a down arrow, if you click on the arrow you will be given a list of options.

    • Language selection:  In the menu there is one tab with an arrow, labelled “language” . If you click on the arrow you will be able to find the language of your choice.  If you find you cannot read the language displayed on the site, you can always click on the arrow beside your name and find the word with the arrow beside it.  This is the language toggle for you to change to the language of your choice.

    • Profile:  If you click on Profile you will see information about yourself.  If you would like to change any information, choose the “Edit Profile” option.

You try: Navigating Moodle on the DD Site

  1. Click on the “Home” button, then find the language option by clicking on the arrow beside your name.

  2. See if you can locate your empty course shell by clicking "My courses".  If you do not have a course shell, you may need to create one- this will be covered in module 2.1 Creating a Course Shell.

  3. Next click on other options in the menu.  Explore and see what is available.

  4. Return here by clicking “My courses and “DD Courses and Moodle Basics” and finally choosing “1.2 Navigating Moodle on the DD Site”  in the side menu.

Bookmarking this Site

If you will be accessing the site a lot, it helps to “bookmark” it.  This will provide a quick link at the top of your browser screen which will take you directly to the home page.  Only use bookmarks on your own computer, not a shared device.

To bookmark the homepage, first go to the home page (https://courses.darakhtdanesh.org/), then follow the instructions below to add a bookmark for your browser.  To see which browser you are using, check for the image on your internet taskbar on the bottom or side of your screen.
