Objectives:

In this section, we will explore navigating DD Courses and how to edit a course.

By the end of this section, you will be able to:

  • Identify the three main areas of a course.

  • Explain how to edit a course.

Your Course at First Glance - Course Sections

When you first see your course it may look very empty! You will see the three main sections of a course:  the course index - a quick way to navigate through or find a specific detail, the main course area - where you will add activities and resources, and course blocks - additional information such as a calendar, contact information, etc.

If you prefer to focus on the main course area you can close the course index and course block by clicking their ‘x’.

As you develop and then begin to facilitate your course, you will frequently use the course administration bar, located under the course title.

How to Edit Course Sections

As you progress through this course you will be editing your course shell using instructions in the "Your Course" sections which follow the lessons.  There are many elements that can changed in Moodle, but you must be in Edit Mode in order to access them.

Once in your course, the top right corner of the page will show the Edit Mode toggle.  When you click to turn edit mode on, these icons appear in areas where you can edit or add as highlighted in green.  We will be covering what each of these areas do in the following modules.
